A massive June 4th memorial gathering in Vic Park, then the suspicious death of Li Wang Yang and the protests/memorials that followed, and in return we get communist tanks in the city...

As tensions rise between HK protestors and Beijing, HK's PLA has apparently put the city on "high alert", and called in 10 army tanks to "keep things stable". They were driven into the city from the mainland inconspicuously at midnight, but one of them also appeared in the busy district of Jordan at the middle of the night. The last time they sent army tanks into the city was during an anti-terrorist exercise, and tanks were driven in during broad daylight. But this time the tanks came in in the middle of the night, trying to be "low-key", but obviously in response of the PLA's "high alert", as recent protests/demonstrations in HK are getting more and more rowdy.

But honestly, isn't this just gonna make things even more tense? A British-raised/democratically-thirsty HK doesn't need another reminder that they're essentially under the control of the mainland government, especially when recent scandals and "suspicious deaths" have not done well for their reputation.

I say, let's just all take a chill pill, put your tanks and pepper sprays and blood-coloured banners away, and have a picnic and call it a day, for a few days. Or months. Or years. And think about HK's future a bit later. When we're a bit closer to 1997+50.
